Online Police Reports

online police reports

Commencing February 26, the Juneau Police Department will require people to go online and file a report when reporting certain non-in progress crimes which include theft, vandalism to property, frauds up to $5000 and motor vehicle accidents without injuries and less than $5000 vehicle damage. The introduction of online reporting will allow officers and dispatchers more time with other priority services like answering 911 calls and responding to crimes in progress, traffic enforcement and neighbourhood patrols.

Online reporting was introduced by the JPD in 2007 to better serve the community. It allows a person to report a crime without speaking to a police officer and once the report is completed and verified by a JPD dispatcher a copy of the report is emailed to the person who made the report. Reports made online will be reviewed and assigned to an officer if necessary. People will still need to call the JPD for any other crimes not in progress for assistance.
