The City and Borough of Juneau will be appointing Katie Koester as the new director of public works and engineering soon due to former Director Mike Vigue retiring earlier in the month. Katie Koester was announced as his replacement on Monday.
Koester was formerly the City Manager of Homer and was in charge of daily and long term operations of all the city’s departments including developing budgets and capital improvement planning. Koester has also previously worked as the City of Homer’s Community & Economic Development Coordinator. She holds a Master of Political Science from the Pontific Catholic University of Chile and a Bachelor of Arts in Governemnt from Smith College. She is also currently working on a Master of Public Administration from the University of Alaska Southeast according to a press release from the city. Her state date has yet to be announced.
