Two new call taker positions are being added in the Communications Center at the Juneau Police Department to improve the response to emergency and service related calls so that they are answered quickly and are given full attention. It is not unusual for the Communications Center staff to take twenty calls per hour which does not include 911 calls during a day shift. At present callers have to endure constant interruptions due to dispatchers multi tasking between calls. Call takers will ease the high call traffic by working during peak hours which will in turn allow better service to the public and responders. JPD is currently hiring for the two 911 operators positions and the application period closed December 2. Starting at $21.90 hr, Apply at: https://beta.juneau.org/police/employment
